Account Approvals

Bento is an approval-only email platform. This means all accounts will be manually reviewed by a human before they can send emails.

Why is my account pending approval?

One of the most important features we offer at Bento is exceptional deliverability. We are committed to ensuring that your emails reach your users' inboxes and are opened!

To achieve this, we require all new accounts to provide some information about their business. This helps us verify:

  • You are a legitimate user
  • You own the domain associated with your email
  • You are a good citizen of the internet

We will email you in the first few hours after you sign up to ask for this information. Reply to that email quickly to get things moving!

You can reply to that email immediately, or take some time to explore Bento's features before doing so. You have full access to the app's functionalities, such as Forms, Sequences, and Broadcasts, allowing you to start building your email funnels. When you're ready to begin sending emails, simply send us a quick email with your business details, and we'll handle the rest!

Additionally, we may request further information, such as your historical open and click rates, or your email marketing plans.

How long does it take?

In most cases, approvals take a few hours. Those that don't take a little longer as there is back and forth to request more information from you.

Common reasons for rejection

50% of accounts that are rejected is because we cannot find out who the business owner is or where they are located. If we can't figure out this information, neither can your users and that's a problem. The other 50% fail due to the below reasons.

Criteria for Approval

To be approved for a Bento account, businesses must meet several criteria:

  • Privacy policy and terms of service: This policy must be easily accessible on the business's website and comply with relevant data protection laws.
  • A real business domain: Using a business domain instead of a personal email address helps to establish the legitimacy of the business and ensures that the email address is associated with the correct domain name. This can help to reduce the risk of fraud or scams.
  • Social media presence: A social media presence, such as a Facebook or Instagram page, can help to demonstrate that the business is active and engaged with its customers.
  • Contact information: Providing contact information, such as a phone number or physical address, can help to establish trust and ensure you are a real business. Additionally, an about us page with names of the founders or team is further proof that you're real.
  • Testimonials or evidence of customers: Testimonials or other evidence of existing customers, such as reviews or case studies, can help to demonstrate the legitimacy and quality of the business's products or services.
  • Non-banned categories: You cannot send on our platform, unless given an exemption, if you are in gambling, porn, or any category that would risk issues with our upstream vendors.

By requiring businesses to meet these criteria, we are able to maintain a high level of trust among our customers and ensure that our platform is used only for legitimate and good purposes.

In cases where a new business does not meet all of the criteria, we will reach out and ask you to provide additional proof.

To further assist new customers in getting started with Bento, we also offer a demo with our founder, Jesse. This allows businesses to learn more about how the platform works and how it can best be used to meet their specific needs. Often, after meeting face to face, we will approve you straight away.

If you're unhappy with this process, please cancel your subscription via the billing page.

If you have any questions about our terms of service or appropriate use, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via email or our Discord.
